Vernier Springs & Pressings uses a fully integrated manufacturing and financial computer system called Vantage. This new system controls all aspects of Vernier, from quotations right through to dispatch. All stock, no matter where it is in the operations sequence, is recorded so that progress enquiries from customers can be dealt with quickly and accurately.
Once schedules and customer orders are loaded on to the system, the work is planned automatically and material purchase orders are raised. This ensures that no job, once entered onto the system, can be overlooked and that the raw material will be available at the time the job is required.
Advanced scheduling facilities allow work to be optimised onto the best machinery and rigorous control of the jobs ensures that downtime is kept to a minimum.
Full efficiency reports can be generated, which will allow the company to target areas for improvement and therefore improve overall efficiency.

Vernier Springs & Pressings prides itself on the quality of its products and punctual, worldwide delivery of goods.
Approved to IS0 9001 in October 1991, the company quickly saw the benefit of operating an efficient Quality Management System.
Through Vernier’s commitment to continuing improvements, the company was approved to QS9000 in March 1997. Vernier was only the second spring and presswork company to achieve this award and was one of only 170 companies approved worldwide by the BSI. Vernier gained approval to ISO/TS 16949 in May 2004, becoming the first UK spring & presswork company to achieve this standard.
To complement the quality system, the company was named an Investor in People in September 1998. This underlined that the development of Vernier’s employees was imperative to the continued growth of the company.
Vernier clearly sees technology as the way forward, and as such introduced the computer software package, Powerway, to improve Quality operations within the company. Like Vantage, it completely controls the quality system, ensuring that only current issue specifications are used and that all calibrations and validations are up to date.
